Riffle-type sample splitter can be used to divide or halve dry materials such as cement, gravel, powdered ores, coal, coke, sand, soils, etc. Material poured into the hopper is divided into two equal portions by a series of chutes that discharge the material alternately in opposite directions into separate pans. Splitter is stainless steel construction with cold-rolled steel pans.

Los Angeles Abrasion Testing Machine: The machine consists of a hollow cylinder mounted horizontally on a study frame on ball bearings. There is an opening which can be closed with a dust tight cover to facilitate charging and discharging the drum with the material under test. A detachable shelf which extends throughout the inside length of the drum which catches the abrasive charge.

 Dorry Abrasion Testing Machine: It consists of a disc rotating about a shaft connected to a reduction gear box coupled to a motor. The disc rotates at 28-30 RPM. Under the rotating disc is a tray with an outlet to facilitate the removal of sand. Two Conical Hoppers are mounted on a bracket fixed to the circular tray. An arrangement is made for start and stop the flow of sand.

The 50 kN capacity Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine is used to determine the maximum load and flow values of bituminous mixtures. The machine comprises of a robust and compact two column frame with adjustable upper cross beam. The unit is a bench mounting compression frame with motor and worm gear housed within the base unit. The speed of the lower platen can be adjusted between 6 mm/min to 60 mm/min using the data acquisition and control unit. For safety, the up and down travel of the lower platen is limited the use of limit switches. Rapid adjustment of the platen is controlled using the up and down buttons on the front panel of the machine. The machine can be hand operated by a lateral hand wheel for calibration purposes.

The measuring system consists of a 50 kn capacity strain gauge load cell fitted to the upper cross beam to read stability values and the 25 x 0.001 mm linear potentiometric displacement transducer fitted to the breaking head. The Automatic Marshall Stability Machine is suitable for testing 6” dia. 4” dia. specimens conforming to ASTM D5581

Consolidation is a process in which a soil sample undergoes a volumetric change due to the application of some type of loading. Placing a load on a soil sample results in a reduction in the void space within the soil.

Direct Shear test Apparatus: The test is carried out on a soil sample confined in a metal box of square cross-section which is split horizontally at mid-height. A small clearance is maintained between the two halves of the box.The soil is sheared along a predetermined plane by moving the top half of the box relative to the bottom half.

Triaxial Test Apparatus: stress is applied to a sample of the material being tested in a way which results in stresses along one axis being different from the stresses in perpendicular directions. This is typically achieved by placing the sample between two parallel platens which apply stress in one (usually vertical) direction.

The apparatus consists of a Perspex permeability cell mounted on a detachable aluminium base and head. The cylinder has pressure points at different levels, which have to be connected to the manometer stand and to the constant level tank. Two models available: 75 and 114 mm cell nominal diameter.
